FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN

Perform advanced, highly complex budgeting and financial accounting work; maintain and analyze student body financial and statistical records and all site program accounts; provides information related to policies and procedures.Essential Functions: Maintain student body financial records, prepare checks, receipts, signatures and account balances, perform other clerical duties as required.Coordinate financial activities related to cash including receipts, deposits, and reconciliation of statements of various school checking and savings accounts.Compile financial reports and analysis on a regular basis as directed by site administration and present to appropriate local administrative body.Monitor the establishment and expenditure of school site instructional budgets, including general and categorical accounts; process staff-generated purchases.Prepare and provide regular updates and financial data on school site projects to administrators.Provide expertise and occasional after-school instruction to establish good practices regarding handling ticket-taking and cash transactions at the gate for home athletic or extra-curricular activities. Requires ability to occasionally, (not more than six times), work a flexible schedule.Order, receive and process payment for merchandise.Assist book room clerk in inventory of supplies, books and materials each term.Account for all donations to site, shop fees, book fees, field trip costs, etc.Provide training and direction for student body officers.Work in close association with the Activities Director, class sponsors, and student leaders on fundraisers.Responsible for the sale of tickets to major school activities such as Senior Ball, Junior Prom, Winter Ball, Senior Picnic, Graduation, and maintain records of sale.Perform related duties as assigned. JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Basic record keeping practices, procedures, and methods.Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.Operation of a computer terminal.District policies, procedures and terminology.Application sections of State Education Code, Board policies, and other related laws.Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.Report writing methods and techniques.Oral and written communication skills in English. Skill to: Operate modern office equipment including ten-key and computer equipment.Type at 30 words per minute. Ability to: Perform advanced, highly complex financial record keeping activities.Prepare, develop, monitor and maintain financial records and reports.Operate office machines.Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.Operate a variety of office equipment including computers and printers.Work independently with little direction.Meet schedules and time lines.Plan and organize work.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Education & Experience Requirements: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance of financial or statistical records, preferably including some experience in the specific area of assignment. Training: Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by specialized training or course work in accounting, financial record keeping, or a related field.Selection Process: The examination process for this recruitment may be comprised of one or any combination of the following: screening of the applicant's training, background, and experience; scored evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; written examination(s); qualifications appraisal oral examination; performance examination; or technical oral examination, scored on a job-related basis. Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. The maximum salary is reached after 3 1/2 years of employment.Recruitment that list Promotional and Open Competitive opportunities may result in one of the following; 1) a dual-certified list in which internal employees of the San Lorenzo Unified School District are awarded seniority points to their final passing score before placement on the eligibility list, or 2) two separate eligibility lists consistingof candidates on a promotional only list and an open list. In the latter case, candidates on the promotional list are referred to the hiring authority before candidates on the open. However, where less than three ranks exist on the promotional list the open list will be utilized to complete a total of three ranks.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
