MAINTENANCE CRAFTSPERSON- HEATING VENTILATING AIR CONDITIONING (Promotional & Open)

Under direction, perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of school heating plant and ventilating systems; perform a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in several other trades; and to do related work as required. Essential Functions: Inspects low-pressure boiler systems, checking and adjusting controls, valves, switches, and water levels and makes necessary repairs and adjustments;Inspects ventilating systems to insure proper heat, airflow and room temperatures; services fans, compressors, and pumps by oiling, greasing, packing and cleaning as required;Performs routine maintenance repairs on plumbing systems; maintains preventative maintenance records; drains pneumatic heating systems; works from blueprints;Repairs electronic and electric controlled panels and electric motorized valves;Adjusts and sets anticipator and submaster on pneumatic heating systems: calibrates and adjusts thermostats; overhauls and cleans electric motors; overhauls pump assemblies and water seals; installs couplings in circulating pumps;Installs and tests thermocouples and pilot generators; removes, cleans and replaces filters;Services and maintains forced air and gravity heating systems including the various controls; does silver soldering and brazing;Assists in training new building maintenance specialists regarding school heating and ventilating systems; Performs repair work on air conditioning units;Performs duties included in the Building Maintenance Specialist job description. Knowledge of: The methods, materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in the building maintenance trades; Applicable codes. Ability To: Use the tools and materials necessary in the repair and servicing of boilers and equipment;Read and interpret prints;Follow oral and written instructions and work from plans and specifications; Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; Perform a wide variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled work in several trades. Education & Experience Requirements: Experience: Two years of journeyman level heating and ventilating experience. Education: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade or informal education sufficient to insure ability to perform job duties. Other Requirements: Possession of a valid California driver's license is a continuous requirement. Selection Process: The examination process for this recruitment may be comprised of one or any combination of the following: screening of the applicant's training, background, and experience; scored evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; written examination(s); qualifications appraisal oral examination; performance examination; or technical oral examination, scored on a job-related basis. Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. The maximum salary is reached after 3 ? years of employment.Recruitments that list Promotional and Open Competitive opportunities may result in one of the following: 1) a dual-certified eligibility list in which internal employees of the San Lorenzo Unified School District are awarded seniority points to their final passing score before placement on the eligibility list, or 2) two separate eligibility lists consisting of candidates on a promotional only list and an open list. In the latter case, candidates on the promotional list are referred to the hiring authority before candidates on the open. However, when less than three ranks exist on the promotional list, the open list will be utilized to complete a total of three ranks.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
